Wimax Facts

Most of the buzz in the mobile market has been on LTE, but the facts are that Sprint has added more Wimax customers in the last quarter than Verizon has added in LTE subscribers.

Most of the 1.7 million new Wimax subscribers were wholesaled from Clearwire, but this compares to 1.2 million LTE subscriber added by Verizon. Yet most media outlets fail to report on comparisons like this which show that Wimax is still leading the market in the US. Instead, they focus on stories about carriers like Clearwire shifting away from Wimax towards LTE. It's strange that pundits are predicting the death of Wimax when in fact it is still a leading technology with high growth rates.. Not only was Wimax the market leading 4G technology in the US, it is now one of the only technologies still offered with no data caps by Sprint.
